Meharry Medical College Expands Clinical Enterprise with Acquisitionof Sanitas Clinics in Tennessee

Meharry Medical College (MMC), the nation’s largest private, independent historically black academic health sciences center, announced the acquisition of eight medical clinics previously owned by Sanitas USA, Inc. Dr. James E. K. Hildreth, Sr., president and CEO of Meharry Medical College believes that this strategic acquisition aligns with and amplifies Meharry's mission to deliver community-focused healthcare, reduce health disparities and expand access to high-quality medical services.
The acquisition, facilitated by MMCV, Inc. included clinics that were formerly part of a joint venture between Sanitas USA and BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee.
MMCV, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of MMC focused on strategic business and investment efforts beyond the academic enterprise.
